Annual Car Rental Insurance

Many people will have heard of purchasing vacation travel insurance on an annual basis. Not only is it a cheaper way to buy it, but it also means you’re free for your next trip abroad in no time, without worrying about taking out last-minute insurance. Annual car rental insurance brings exactly the same principle to the car you rent while on that business or pleasure trip.

But it’s not just about the convenience of being prepared year-round for the next time you need to rent a car; there’s also considerable comfort in knowing it’ll be cheaper, too. You don’t need to rent a car for many days before buying annual car rental insurance from an independent insurance provider is worth your while compared to what you would have paid if you had purchased the same coverage directly from the car rental company. And the more days you need to spend renting a car away from home, the better off you’ll be.

This is because annual car insurance covers an unlimited number of rental periods throughout the year: no matter how often you need to rent a car, you’ll always be covered by the insurance. Naturally there is a maximum number of days covered for each rental period, but this is usually a generous 31 to 60 days and therefore long enough to cover most business or holiday trips.

These annual car rental insurance packages are not only generally cheaper than those provided directly by the car rental company, but also tend to offer a wider range of benefits. While the rental company’s collision and theft damage waiver insurance will almost certainly attract a large deductible, for example, pre-arranged annual coverage from an independent insurance provider will often extend coverage to all such excesses, making which will give the car lessee much more peace of mind. The annual package will likely include damage to areas of the vehicle that might not be covered by the rental company’s insurance package (typically the roof, underbody, tires, and windows).

That additional degree of reinsurance is also likely to be provided to those who will be driving a rental car in the United States or Canada with an annual policy that includes supplemental liability insurance, significantly extending third-party liability coverage up to a typical maximum of US$1 million Other benefits not typically included in rental company insurance coverage could well include compensation after accidents involving underinsured or uninsured third parties or drivers who they run away; the cost of access in case of accidental blocking of the rented vehicle; and compensation for the loss of use of the rented vehicle as a result of an accident or breakdown.

In general, therefore, year-round, go anywhere, rent anywhere, annual rental car insurance can represent excellent value for money. It will be there whenever you need it, as many times as you need to rent a car. All you will have to do is inform the car rental company that you have your own pre-arranged insurance, and ask the company to confirm that it is acceptable (which in the vast majority of cases it will be).
