Coconut oil: a natural degreasing agent and make-up remover

Have you ever had your hands covered in grease, dirt, or paint and tried to wash them with regular hand soap? You can scrub until your skin is raw and still not remove it completely. Grease, motor oil, oil-based paints, printing ink, varnish, and other oil-based products can be a nightmare to remove. The only things that seem to work are expensive anti-grease hand cleansers and lava soap, which contains crushed rock and acts like sandpaper. There is another option: coconut oil, not coconut soap oil, just regular oil.

Coconut oil is an amazing degreasing agent. It cuts through fat like a hot knife cuts through butter. No more scrubbing for what seems like hours trying to get your hands clean. Take a teaspoon or so and apply to your hands as if you were washing your hands in the oil. The fat will dissolve and practically melt off your hands. After the fat liquefies, wipe it off with a paper towel. Remove any remaining oil by washing your hands with regular soap and water. Your hands will be clean and spotless. It is easy. If you want a little more cleaning power, you can add a small amount of cornmeal to the oil. This gives the oil some teeth to pull out embedded dirt.

Coconut oil is an excellent natural makeup remover and makeup remover. No need for petroleum-based mineral oils or expensive makeup removers. Just dab some coconut oil on your hands and rub it on your face. Wipe away excess oil and makeup with a tissue and wash your face with bath soap. Your face will look fresh and clean. You may want to apply a thin layer of coconut oil after washing with soap and water to hydrate and soften your skin.
