Manganese X Energy Corp is a Canadian company that manages several properties located in four provinces. Manganese X Energy Corp is part of the Xenergy Group which is a diversified energy conglomerate based in British Columbia, Canada. They have also signed a definitive agreement with Comcast to provide electricity in select communities in the United States.
The Corporation has several properties that it is working on in order to make it possible for them to become financially sustainable. Among these projects are the efforts to mine for manganese in northern Mexico as well as evaluate how they can mine this deposit in Australia and possibly provide services in Canada. It also intends to explore for other minerals in the area including coal, oil, natural gas and uranium. In fact, the manganese x energy corp aims to become one of the major players in the exploration of fossil fuels. It does this through its acquisition of the Black River property located in Labrador’s South Shore.
A large portion of their current activities involves evaluating how manganese x energy resources can be recovered from the mines. Manganese is used for a variety of things including electrodes in batteries and for generating hydrogen fuel cells. This latter technology aims to produce green energy using combustible materials like coal, oil and natural gas. In fact, it would seem that this mining company has an eye on renewable energy resources including wind and solar power that can supplement whatever biofuel facilities it might establish in Labrador and other parts of North America.

In terms of its Ethical Supervision program, the corporation says that it will only conduct its business in compliance with Canadian environmental laws and the policies of the Canadian government. In addition to this requirement, the corporation promises to manufacture nickel-free batteries. So far, this has been met with criticism coming from both sides of the debate regarding this issue. On one side, those opposing the Ethical Supervision claim that manganese batteries do not need to be manufactured to be environmentally sound. On the other hand, proponents of Ethical Supervision say that there is no need for the company to mislead customers into believing that nickel-free batteries are anything but naturally occurring. Both sides of this debate are attempting to influence the general public into believing that they are on the side of Mother Nature when they are actually promoting an agenda that would benefit corporate interests
The Ethical Corporation could not be immediately classified as a socially conscious corporation. Its website does not indicate whether or not it currently sells or installs environmentally friendly devices or products. It is also currently undertaking an initiative that it calls “Canadian Action Plan On nickel emissions.” However, since the occurrence of manganese in the air and water and the threat to Labrador’s fishing and lumber industries, environmental groups believe that the Ethic Corporation is moving in the wrong direction by promoting manganese use as an alternative to the replacement of nickel batteries in electric cars and cell phones with lithium ion batteries sourced from Canada.
Despite this, it would be short-sighted for the Ethic Corporation to attempt to sway consumers against the use of manganese based batteries in lieu of lithium ion batteries sourced from Canada. Consumers in this region are largely supportive of using manganese based battery technology in lieu of the more harmful lithium battery technology sourced from the US. The possibility of having a large deposit of manganese located in this region does little to justify the further exploitation of the deposits. Opponents of ethically sourced batteries feel that the issue should be addressed through legislation mandating that the mining operations in this region are conducted in a manner that abides by various environmental laws.
