Summer holidays in New Zealand are something Kiwis (the colloquial name for New Zealanders) look forward to all year. New Zealand is situated in the southern hemisphere and celebrates Christmas and New Year during the summer beginning in December, just as the northern hemisphere is entering winter, so a New Zealand summer holiday and Christmas in the sun They are definitely the best option. Most New Zealand camping grounds now have modern, clean and hygienic amenities including large shower blocks with hairdryers, kitchens with fridges, microwaves and ovens and laundries with multiple washers and dryers.
The outdoor areas have continued to be adapted to the requirements of campers and many now include barbecue areas, a children’s playground and a spa pool. Rainy days are taken care of in the games room with TV, games for adults and children and, sometimes, a pool or ping-pong table.
Accommodation options are probably the biggest change over the years. Of course, if putting up a tent, unrolling your sleeping bag and just enjoying the simplicity of camping appeals to you, then tent sites can still be easily found, however if you want a little more space for you and your family , then another option you can choose is to book a caravan – many campsites in New Zealand have them permanently on the place they rent, if a caravan doesn’t suit your requirements, you can also choose between tourist cabins with beds and a kitchenette, in most often guests use the common facilities, if you really want to be independent many of the grounds have motel units with separate bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom.
