Weight loss pills: what should you know about them?

When you are looking for a way to lose weight, weight loss pills can be very tempting. The manufacturers of these pills claim that they use natural ingredients in their products and that it is these natural wonders that can help a person lose weight. Of course, a person should never consider taking weight loss pills to reduce calorie intake and lose weight, without first talking to a doctor about it.

But there are some other things that should always be kept in mind when taking these pills:

1.) Weight loss tablets should never be crushed into a drink or soup. They are made to be drunk whole, with a glass of water.

2.) They sometimes have diuretic effects, causing someone to urinate a lot. Because of this, it is important to drink plenty of water while taking diet pills to prevent dehydration.

3.) Even if you want to lose as much weight as possible, do not take more than the recommended dose. Some people mistakenly believe that this will help them lose weight. However, it will only increase the severity of the side effects.

4.) They can sometimes cause a dangerous increase in heart rate. Heart rate should generally be less than 86 beats per minute. If the heart rate exceeds 90 beats per minute, the diet pills should be stopped immediately.

6.) Stop taking the pills after you have been taking them for three months, if not instructed earlier. This diet pill is also known to cause problems when taken for less than a month.

Xenical is a very popular form of prescription diet pill and is even recommended for long-term use. But users should note that this weight loss pill also has some side effects such as oily discharge, fecal discharge, and diarrhea.

Over-the-counter weight loss pills, on the other hand, are classified as a food substitute and are therefore not regulated by the FDA. The effects that these diet pills will have on any person are largely unknown and they can have very serious side effects, which can even cause death. However, there are still some good over-the-counter weight loss pills that your pharmacist or a good dietitian should be able to point you to.

People who have underlying conditions such as prostate problems, thyroid disease, mental illness, high blood pressure, or other medical problems should avoid taking weight loss pills. Also, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also not take any type of weight loss pill.
